Chart Notes:

  • Four new songs break into this week’s chart, led by Miley Cyrus‘s “Malibu” at #37. Cyrus’s single debuted on Thursday and climbed to #1 on iTunes, while also making a speedy entry on the pop radio chart thanks to hourly airplay from iHeartMedia stations on the afternoon of its release. Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie‘s “In My World” enters at #38; that marks the legendary Fleetwood Mac members’ first hit as a duo. At 73, McVie is now the oldest artist to ever appear on my list, besting 71-year-old Mike Love’s contribution to 2012’s “That’s Why God Made The Radio” (#28) by The Beach Boys.
  • Newcomer Tom Walker rolls into the #39 slot with “Just You And I”, which is featured on his recent EP release, Blessings. The Scottish singer/songwriter’s track heads to Hot AC radio in June, and then to Top 40 radio in July. Finally, entering this week at #40 is Skip Marley and his second top 40 single, “Calm Down”. You’ll recall that he’s featured on Katy Perry‘s #1 song “Chained To The Rhythm”, which recently spent four weeks atop my chart. (It drops to #11 this week.)
