Chart Notes:

  • The first top 40 single for 23-year-old singer and songwriter Julia Michaels is now her first #1 on my personal chart. Up a notch, from 2-1, “Issues” is the first song to be released off an EP titled Nervous System, due sometime in May. If you watch Girls on HBO, then you probably heard her “How Do We Get Back To Love” in a recent episode, though that song isn’t out at the moment. Stay tuned for more Michaels music mania in the coming weeks on the blog…
  • In a shocker to probably no one, Harry Styles has the week’s Biggest Mover with “Sign Of The Times”, jumping from 34-21 in its second week on the chart. It’s the lead single from his forthcoming solo debut, a self-titled effort, due May 12. Look for it to reach the top ten in the next few weeks. Soaring from 21-12, “Don’t Take The Money” by Bleachers is a sure bet for the region next week. The fight for the top spot should be an interesting one next month.
  • I’ve got a strange feeling about this week’s countdown… perhaps it’s because of those two strangers entering the top 40. The higher of the two is “Kissing Strangers”, the fourth top 40 entry by DNCE, debuting at #37. It features Nicki Minaj. Mike Posner comes in just below that, at #39, with what also becomes his fourth charting single, “In The Arms Of A Stranger”. At the current time, both tracks sit below the top 50 on the CHR/Top 40 chart.
