RECORD REWIND: PGTC Picks, 12/11 – 12/17

Record Rewind - December 18, 2016

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Given the proximity to the holidays and the general lack of new releases, there wasn’t much music to go through this week. As far as next week, it’ll probably be much of the same. So, if this space seems a little lighter, consider it temporary, as I’m excited for all that great music in the works for 2017!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…

_____

BAD WAVE – “Daniel” (iTunes) (Spotify)
Los Angeles’s Tucker Tota and Patrick Hart are the two members of this duo, and had the Rewind existed earlier this year, at least a few of their singles would’ve been in the mix, like “Extraordinary” and “Good Girls”. This is my favorite track from them since then.

_____

FOREIGN AIR – “Caffeine” (iTunes) (Spotify)
Some of us successfully lay off the caffeine in the morning, while others just can’t give it up. As far as this source of “Caffeine”, I will admit that I did take a few sips several mornings ago. The American act has been on my radar before, and this is another solid song.

_____

MOKITA x THE READY SET – “Broken Parts” (iTunes) (Spotify)
It’s been a moment since Jordan Witzigreuter’s The Ready Set last made the CHR/Top 40 radio chart in early 2013, but the singer’s been creating some cool tunes with a few Nashville artists, like John-Luke Carter, better known as Mokita. They make a great team!

_____

For more great new music, these tunes are worth a listen…
BONNIE MCKEE – “Stars In Your Heart” (SoundCloud)
STONE COLD FOX – “Buffalo” (SoundCloud)

Want to be featured on this weekly wrap-up? Submit your music to afsoybel@hotmail.com and I’ll check it out. Thanks!
