Plenty of rockin’ albums on the schedule this week, as alternative sounds fill your ears for some Friday fun. However, we always have some competition in the mix. Will the pop acts prevail instead? Here are the latest notable albums and singles:
GREEN DAY — Revolution Radio (iTunes)
“Bang Bang” goes the start of this week’s releases review, and it’s about to get loud up in here. California’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool deliver their twelfth studio album since 1990, and they hope that it will become their first #1 album on the Billboard 200 since 2009. As far as their radio game goes, “Bang” is currently #3 on the Alternative chart. It should hit #1 a few weeks from now (if the current trends continue.)
ONEREPUBLIC — Oh My My (iTunes)
This Colorado band has been making hits since 2007, like “Apologize”, “Counting Stars” and “Good Life”. Perhaps they’re about to make a few more! The group’s current radio single is “Kids”, which stands in the top 20 on the Hot AC chart, but, surprisingly finds itself below the top 50 on CHR/Top 40 radio. Can they climb to the top of the pop playground? We’ll see very soon.
PHANTOGRAM — Three (iTunes)
The New York duo of Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter is back with their first album in over two years. As the title states, this is the act’s third studio effort (and their second for a major label.) Lead single “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore” is still high up in the top ten on the Alternative chart, where it’s their biggest hit since “Fall In Love” (#3) in 2014.
