Chart Notes:

  • Scoring his fifth #1 on my personal chart, Passenger is up 2-1 with “Somebody’s Love”. It’s the first single from the album Young As The Morning, Old As The Sea, due September 23. While not a record, the performer is nearing that magic seven, which two acts (Adele and Coldplay) are currently sitting at. Given the set’s release date in a few weeks, we’ll see what the era is capable of soon.
  • This week’s Highest Debut, at #36, is a new one from OneRepublic. “Kids” follows “Wherever I Go”, which quickly hit the top ten a few weeks ago. (It recently crashed at several radio formats due to poor testing.) The group’s fourth studio album is due sometime later this year, and a music video for their new single should make its debut soon.
  • Sounding like a TK Records release circa 1976, “Move” from Saint Motel debuts at #38 this week. It’s the band’s third top 40 hit on my chart, and it’ll be featured on their forthcoming saintmotelevision album, due October 21. Of course, the guys are best known for “My Type”, which spent four weeks at #1 last year.
  • Finally, at #39, is the third top 40 hit for The Griswolds, a four-man band out of Sydney, Australia. Their newest entry is “Out Of My Head”. They previously reached my top ten in 2014 with “Beware The Dog”, which held at #9 for four weeks.
