Chart Notes:
- Chart action: New trio Bahari‘s first top 40 hit becomes their first top ten, as “Dancing On The Sun” climbs 11-10. It sits a few spots below the top 50 on the pop radio chart. Zayn claims the week’s Biggest Mover with “Like I Would”, up 28-21, a gain of seven notches. Most chart movement is slow to moderate this week, thanks in part to few new releases and the day off on Monday.
- This week’s Highest Debut is from newcomer Dagny, who bows at #39 with “Backbeat”. She’s from Norway, and her song has already racked up some major streams at Spotify since it was released in the fall of last year. In a few weeks, it goes for adds at Hot AC radio. Other Norwegian acts to make my chart include a-ha, A1, and M2M.
- One notch below that is the latest from Shawn Mendes. “Treat You Better” debuts at #40, and it leads his upcoming set, due sometime later this year. The song was co-written by Teddy Geiger, who also co-wrote “Stitches” (#5) and had a pair of top 40 hits on my chart in 2006. “These Walls” was the bigger hit, peaking at #3.
