Chart Notes:

  • Newcomer Barns Courtney lands the new #1 song on my chart this week with “Fire”. It’s taken from the forthcoming EP titled Hands, due out May 27. The English singer was born in Ipswich, and is now based in London. Titles containing “fire” within them appear pretty regularly on the countdown, but this is the first song simply called “Fire” to ever make my chart. (Of course, songs with the title by bands like the Ohio Players, the Pointer Sisters and The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown were massive national hits decades ago.)
  • Despite a change at the top, there isn’t much change down below it. The two singles tied for the Biggest Mover last week? It remains a tie this week for P!nk‘s “Just Like Fire” (27-17) and Adele‘s “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” (24-14), both up an impressive ten notches. No debut song from last week moves up more than five spots. Plus, there are no new entries at all this week. Don’t worry, there will be some nice turnover by the next update, so stay tuned for what happens!
  • Misc. chart notes: Fitz & The Tantrums earn their fifth top ten in a row on my chart, as “HandClap” advances 12-7. It’s a single from their forthcoming self-titled album, due June 10. DNCE scrub up another three spots (22-19) to grab a second top 20 hit in “Toothbrush”. It follows “Cake By The Ocean”, which went to #4. Newcomer Jordan Fisher, who played the role of Doody in Grease: Live, looks chartbound next week as the #1 Next In Line with “All About Us”.
