Chart Notes:

  • Forget the endless weeks of seeing two debuts on my usual update: it’s a spring cleaning week on my personal chart, as five new songs hop aboard the survey. The highest of the five entries is “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)”, new at #34 for a singer I’ve never heard of before… do you know Adele? No? She must be a music industry secret. Jokes aside, “Love” isn’t officially confirmed as the third single from 25, but it has seen some key spins at a couple of big Hot AC stations during the last tracking week. Can it become her third chart-topper in a row from the album on my chart? Stay tuned.
  • From the forthcoming motion picture Alice Through The Looking Glass, P!nk is back on the countdown with a new one at #37. “Just Like Fire” is, well, on fire at radio thanks to sponsored airplay on stations owned by iHeartMedia, and is blazing in the top ten on iTunes. The singer has been a part of movie hits before, like her feature on “Lady Marmalade” in 2001, as well as “Feel Good Time” in 2003. (Moulin Rouge‘s “Lady” spent five weeks at #1, while “Feel” from Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle reached #7.)
  • A decade ago, even five years ago, if you had asked me about Disturbed ever reaching my chart, I would’ve laughed. Now, the band gets their first entry on here. Who knew? Their cover of “The Sound Of Silence” is an unexpected crossover hit in the making. At #40, “Sound” is the first #1 at Active Rock radio to reach my chart since Shinedown‘s “Second Chance”. It peaked at #2 in 2009 on both the weekly and year-end chart.
  • More chart notes: MAGIC!‘s fourth top 40 hit is new at #35 this week. “Lay You Down Easy” features Sean Paul. “Rude” remains their biggest single on my chart, a #2 hit in 2014. The Goo Goo Dolls feel “So Alive” with their debut at #39. It’s the band’s first entry in three years, and leads Boxes, out May 6. Two future summer songs from Bahari and Chris Ayer tie for the week’s Biggest Mover, both up eight.
