Chart Notes:

  • The second top 40 hit from American quartet DNCE is this week’s Highest Debut. Coming in at #38, “Toothbrush” can be found on the group’s EP titled SWAAY. Their first hit, “Cake By The Ocean”, recently peaked at #4 and is still in the top 40 at #33 in its 25th week. A full-length album from the act has yet to be announced, but perhaps we’ll see one later this year.
  • One of the biggest sleeper hits of 2015 and early this year was “Hide Away”, the first top 40 song for 17-year-old Daya. It’s looking like 2016 will be a great one for the Philadelphia singer, as she enters at #39 with “Sit Still, Look Pretty”. Both cuts are featured on her self-titled EP, which was released last fall. The song goes for CHR/Top 40 adds next Tuesday.
  • Also heading to that format is Melanie Martinez‘s “Pity Party”, a single that was supposed to go to radio in September. I guess it’s better late than never, for it goes for adds this Tuesday. It becomes her first track to reach my top 40, new at #40 this week. Martinez is one of the few former contestants from The Voice to make my chart.
