Chart Notes:

  • Scoring their seventh #1 on my personal chart is Coldplay and “Adventure Of A Lifetime”, advancing 2-1 after three weeks in the runner-up spot. Their new #1 puts them ahead of the current record-holder, Maroon 5, and their six chart-toppers. The English group has also managed to score a #1 with each of their four leadoff singles dating back to 2008, with “Viva La Vida”, “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall” and “Magic” being the first three.
  • This week’s Highest Debut, at #38, is the first charting hit since 2011 for Detroit’s Mike Posner. From The Truth, “I Took A Pill In Ibiza” has been putting up some big numbers overseas thanks to a remix by the Norway duo SeeB. He’s yet to find big success with the original or remix in the U.S., but with an impact date at pop radio this month, that could soon change.
  • She recently hit #2 with “On My Mind”, and now, Ellie Goulding is new in the top 40 at #39 with “Something In The Way You Move”. It’s the second charting single from Delirium, which recently landed at #3 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Is Goulding due for her second #1 on my chart this spring? Stay tuned to find out!
  • Finally, coming in at #40, it’s the Grammy-nominated Alabama Shakes with the title track from Sound & Color. It has an impressive six nods at this year’s ceremony, which takes place on February 15. Be sure to check it out to see how they do.
