Chart Notes:

  • All three debuts on my chart this week were featured in my POP! Goes The Picks radio selections for January, so check out those posts if you want to know more about the acts behind these songs and other singles headed to radio soon!
  • This week’s Highest Debut is from singer/songwriter Ben Rector and his song “Brand New”, which is, indeed, brand new at #38 this week. It’s from an album of the same name, which debuted and peaked at #9 on the Billboard 200 a few months ago. Prior to the annual holiday freeze at radio, Rector’s song was already seeing some good momentum below the Hot AC chart from big markets and satellite stations.
  • Entering at #39 is a single that’s already been a hit in Canada and is now looking to take on the U.S. charts. “Sound Of Your Heart” is the first song to reach my personal chart for Shawn Hook, a singer from British Columbia. Though he’s made it on the charts several times up there, this is his first Platinum seller, and it’s been streamed in excess of ten million times on Spotify.
  • Finally, at #40, is the first charting single for the German group AudioDamn! and “Radar”. Ali Grumeth, Daniel Mudrack and Oliver Wimmer make up the trio and they’ve been together for a few years now. Look out for their first EP on Friday, a set that includes this song and the previously-released “Lights Out”.
