Chart Notes:

  • The Highest Debut on this week’s chart comes from Justin Timberlake, debuting at #35 with “Drink You Away”. After a recent performance on the CMA Awards, the two-year-old album cut has found a second life and was recently serviced as a radio single (with a new edit) to several formats. Though no other promotion is expected for the tune, it will be interesting to see how it does in the end.
  • Singer Jean-Philip Grobler makes his debut on my chart as St. Lucia, new at #37 with “Dancing On Glass”. It’s currently a top gaining song on the Alternative radio format and has already accumulated two million plays (and counting) on Spotify. Grobler and his band begin a tour in New York City in late January before moving across the country.
  • Though they’re falling down my chart with a former #1 titled “Pressure Off”, Duran Duran is turning the pressure up, as they enter at #38 with a new release from Paper Gods. It’s “What Are The Chances?” and it’s listed on the release schedule in the U.K. for next week, though details beyond that aren’t available.
  • Rounding out this week’s five new entries are “One Love” by Canadian group Marianas Trench at #39, which is also just under the top 40 at Hot AC radio, and “7 Years” by Danish quartet Lukas Graham at #40, a viral hit that’s been aided by major playlists on Spotify. Both acts are newcomers to the chart.
  • That’s going to do it for the 2015 Chart Year! Come back next week for the first survey of December and the 2016 Year. An update on the Top 100 of 2015 will also be coming.
