Chart Notes:

  • New at the top, Adele scores her fifth #1 on my chart with “Hello”, up 2-1. It’s the first single from her latest set, 25, and a lot of copies have been flying off shelves for the last two days. First week predictions for the effort keep on going up, some at or just under the three million mark in just the U.S. at this point. It’s quite the phenomenon and very well-deserved. It’s been three years since the singer last reached the summit of my top 40 with the title theme from Skyfall.
  • The Highest Debut on this week’s chart is a recent top ten on the Country radio chart for 25-year-old Thomas Rhett. It’s “Die A Happy Man”, new at #39. The tune is taken from his recent album Tangled Up, which debuted and peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200. Rhett’s single has yet to be officially serviced outside his home format, but “Happy” is being spun on at least five Hot AC stations.
  • Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen has scored with two big singles from her E•MO•TION album, “I Really Like You” (#1) and “Run Away With Me” (#2). Her latest, “Your Type”, is new at #40. A video recently premiered for it. Jepsen’s cover of the classic “Last Christmas” was also released this past Friday.
  • Just one more survey is left until the end of the 2015 Chart Year! It’s been another good year with a lot of great artists and singles. Stay tuned for more updates on the Top 100 of 2015, which will be counted down in mid-December on the blog.
