Chart Notes:

  • This week’s top new entry is from a solo singer who once charted as a part of The Wanted. The English quintet went on a hiatus last year, but 22-year-old Nathan Sykes is ready to go with some solo material. “Kiss Me Quick” debuts at #37 and goes for adds at CHR radio on Tuesday, though it’s already been added to a few stations before its impact. “Kiss” is also the second song to make my chart through Global Entertainment’s label, the first being Lawson‘s “Roads” (#20) in March.
  • The last time John Newman charted on my top 40 was in the spring of 2014, when he went to #14 with “Losing Sleep”. It was one of three singles to ride the survey from his debut album, Tribute, though only one of them, “Love Me Again”, was a pop radio hit in the States. Now, his fourth top 40 hit and first from his forthcoming sophomore set lands at #38 this week, “Come And Get It”. For the record, it’s not a hot Badfinger or Selena Gomez cover.
  • Newcomer Anderson East is about to release his album titled Delilah on July 10, and the first single from it is new at #39 this week. “Satisfy Me” is current gaining at Triple A radio as the performer continues on tour with the John Butler Trio  through the middle of July. It was also just announced this week that he will be touring with The Lone Bellow in the fall.
  • Finally, new at #40 is a superstar collaboration from Duran Duran, Janelle Monáe and Nile Rodgers. “Pressure Off” just premiered on Friday, so expect a quick climb for the single in the coming weeks. It leads off Paper Gods, which is out in the U.S. on September 18. “Pressure” is the band’s first entry on my chart since 2011’s “Leave A Light On” (#22).
