Chart Notes:

  • Though the pace of the chart this week is noticeably slower overall, several songs register moderate-sized moves. Leading the way is “In The Dark” by Matt Woods. After debuting last week at #37, he climbs to #31, a gain of six notches. His EP is out in two weeks, though “Dark” is available for purchase now. Just behind Woods’s hit are “Crave” by Parachute (40-35) and “Teach Me How To Dance With You” by Causes (34-29) with leaps of five spots on the countdown.
  • The highest of the week’s two debuts is in at #38 for Brandon Flowers and “Can’t Deny My Love”, the first release from his forthcoming second solo album, The Desired Effect. The track looks to push into the top 40 on the Alternative survey in the coming days. It was five years ago that Flowers spent three weeks at the top on my list with the amazing “Crossfire”. We’ll have to wait and see if his latest can do the same.
  • Also debuting this week is the latest top 40 hit from MIKA, “Talk About You”, in at #39. The singer and songwriter made his first appearance on my chart in late 2006 with the song “Grace Kelly”, which peaked at #10 for several weeks in 2007. “Talk” is the leadoff single from No Place In Heaven, due in June, though it’s not available as a pre-order here just yet.
