Chart Notes:

  • Seven songs land a Top Gainer title this week, but the biggest of the big is from The Script. They jump from 31-22, a gain of nine notches for “No Good In Goodbye”. It’s the follow-up to “Superheroes”, which marks its 14th week in the top ten on this chart. Though “Goodbye” has yet to see a U.S. release date with the trio’s previous single still climbing up, it should be here sometime in 2015.
  • The week’s Highest Debut is an amazing new song from English DJ and producer Mark Ronson and American singer Bruno Mars, “Uptown Funk”, which bows in at #32. It has been racing up the radio charts since its debut on Monday and is also in the top 40 on iTunes. “Funk” is the first release to be issued from Ronson’s forthcoming album, Uptown Special, due next year.
  • As they rise in the top ten with “Steal My Girl”, English boy band One Direction has yet another entry on the top 40 from their new album Four with “Night Changes”, in at #38. The song was co-written by Jamie Scott, who also lands at #1 for the fifth week running with “Unbreakable”. You certainly can’t break a winning combination like that.
  • Finally, at #39, is the first chart hit since the summer of 2012 for Mat Kearney. “Heartbeat” debuts at #39 this week for the Oregon-born performer as he looks to capture his fifth top ten single. His previous four were “Nothing Left To Lose” (#2), “Closer To Love” (#6), “Hey Mama” (#3) and “Ships In The Night” (#8).
