Chart Notes:

  • Quite a bit of movement on the chart this week with eight songs moving up five spots or greater, with three of them at seven or more. The biggest is “Blank Space” from Taylor Swift‘s hot 1989 album, up 38-29 for a gain of nine. It’s no surprise that radio has taken to it very quickly, but it’s moving at a such an incredible pace that could bring it into the CHR top ten before Thanksgiving. That’s some serious turkey talk.
  • They peaked at #3 earlier this year with the international hit “Rather Be”, and now, Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne are reunited and feeling real good about “Real Love”, debuting this week at #39 on the countdown. The song is from a rerelease of the band’s New Eyes album, due on November 24 in the United Kingdom. It’s sure to be another huge hit for them there.
  • This week’s other new entry is from Pennsylvania-born singer/songwriter Christina Perri. She bows in at #40 with “The Words”. It marks the third song to chart from her Head Or Heart album of earlier this year, the other two being “Human” (#1) and “Burning Gold” (#2). Now at radio, we shall see how “Words” speaks to the Hot AC format.
  • American Authors and Coldplay are back in contention for an entry on the top 40 next weekend with “Luck” and “Ink”, respectively, while Mat Kearney makes a bold debut on the Next In Line with “Heartbeat”. Who gets in? Find out on Sunday for all the results.
