Chart Notes:

  • For the second week in a row, Jamie Scott reigns supreme on the survey with “My Hurricane”, the title track from his forthcoming album. Though its U.S. run at radio is largely over at this point, a followup single titled “Unbreakable” was recently made available via an album pre-order and Scott recently shot a video for it. It will likely debut on next week’s top 40. Can he make it two solo chart-toppers in a row? We’ll see!
  • The Biggest Mover for the second week running is “Superheroes” from the trio The Script. After debuting at #30 two weeks ago, they climbed to #20 last week and to #11 this week, a gain of nine notches. This leads off No Sound Without Silence, due for a U.S. release in late September. As for actual superheroes, both Spider-Man and Superman have been in the title of at least one chart entry since 1999.
  • This week’s Highest Debut at #39 is the second single to chart this year for the Australian quintet Boy & Bear. “Three Headed Woman” is the followup to “Southern Sun”, which climbed to a peak of #8 for three weeks back in February. It was recently serviced to AAA radio, where “Sun” reached the same region. Both singles are taken from their Harlequin Dream, released last year.
  • Also, in at #40, is the first entry for Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness, titled “Cecilia And The Satellite”. The 31-year-old singer/songwriter has been here before, however, as McMahon led the group Jack’s Mannequin to four top 40 singles like 2008’s “The Resolution” (#17) and 2009’s “Swim” (#20). It’s his first single with Vanguard Records.
