Chart Notes:

  • Christina Perri is doing it again with her fantastic hit “Human”, spending a fourth week at #1 on my chart. It’s now the longest-running #1 song of the 2014 chart year (not that we’re that far into it) and it looks like it may be here for another week or two until an act like Grouplove or Neon Trees inevitably swipes it away from her. Parent album Head Or Heart is now out April 1 after a three-week delay due to synchronizing international dates.
  • Boy band One Direction tied for the Biggest Mover last week with three other songs; this week, they’re all on their own and taking the honor for “Midnight Memories”, up 33-25. Thanks to its recent music video premiere, “Midnight” re-entered the Billboard Hot 100 at #68 last week, though there’s no actual confirmation on whether the song will be the third Stateside single from the album of the same name.
  • She may not have won any GRAMMY Awards this time around, but another top 40 hit on my chart isn’t such a bad secondary prize, is it? Singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles has the Highest Debut of the week at #38 with “I Choose You”. It’s her eighth chart single and her followup to “Brave”, which peaked at #4 last year. Both songs can be found on her most recent album titled The Blessed Unrest.
  • It’s been exactly two years since singer Ingrid Michaelson last appeared in the top 40; she peaked at #29 with a song called “Ghost”, a minor entry on the AAA radio survey. Now, Michaelson is back with a new hit, “Girls Chase Boys”, entering at #39. Her forthcoming album, Lights Out, is out on April 15.
  • Last, but not least, Irish rockers U2 are on the chart with “Invisible”, entering at #40. Last time the quartet appeared here, they peaked at #17 with “Magnificent” in the spring of 2009. “Invisible” was available for free for 48 hours via iTunes and is still selling moderately well at the usual $1.29 price tag.
