SINGLE PREMIERE: Mutya Keisha Siobhan – “Flatline” (+ Lyrics)

"New year", new name.

“New year”, new name.

The Origababes are back in action as Mutya Keisha Siobhan with their debut single “Flatline”. As the first incarnation of the British girl group Sugababes, they released one album together in the United Kingdom, One Touch, with a handful of charting singles, before member Siobhan Donaghy left the group in 2001. Back together after twelve years, their first single as a trio once more is a hot pop track, with some lovely harmonies and a few different influences, including a bit of chanting by a choir of men. It’s sure to take them back to top when it’s released in the U.K. on September 1. Enjoy!

Listen to the premiere of “Flatline”.

“FLATLINE”

[Verse 1]
Don’t say you know, please wait ’til we’re sober
Don’t play a sad song, put your guitar back down

[Bridge]
The change was obvious
So miscellaneous
We used to live it up
Remember baby
But like a pack of cards
The king and queen of hearts
All fall down

[Chorus]
Stay gone, darling, I won’t hang on
I can feel a flatline, there oughta be a wave
Oh no, darling, I can’t hang on
I can feel a flatline, there oughta be a wave

Oh-oh, oh-oh…

[Verse 2]
I know what I face, the silence is deafening
I know crying through pain won’t make it right (right, yeah)

[Bridge]
The change was obvious
So miscellaneous
We used to live it up
Remember baby
But like a pack of cards
The king and queen of hearts
All fall down

[Chorus]
Stay gone, darling, I won’t hang on
I can feel a flatline, there oughta be a wave
Oh no, darling, I can’t hang on
I can feel a flatline, there oughta be a wave

[Middle 8]
(Oh baby) I’m running every red light
(Oh Jimmy) holding onto me too tight
Evidently, never gonna make it home

Oh-oh, oh-oh…

Ooh ooh ooh
Don’t wanna be in love

[Chorus – variation]
Oh no, darling, I won’t hang on
I can feel a flatline, there oughta be a wave
Stay gone, darling, I can’t hang on
I can feel a flatline, there oughta be a wave

Hang on
There oughta be

One mistake in the lyrics: ‘Oh gently’ in the middle 8 is actually ‘oh Jimmy’. Interesting trivia: the song was originally named ‘Jimmy’.
