Chart Notes:

  • Leaping from 12-7, “Brave” becomes the fifth top ten single on my chart for Sara Bareilles, following “Love Song” (#8), “Bottle It Up” (#8), “King Of Anything” (#2) and “Uncharted” (#10). The 33-year-old singer will be releasing her latest album, The Blessed Unrest, on July 16.
  • For the second week in a row, Five For Fighting takes the Biggest Mover honor, climbing from 29-21 with “What If”. The song’s moved twenty spots upward in two weeks. He, John Ondrasik, also has the distinction of being the oldest musician in the countdown at age 48. Age is nothing but a number, people; it’s all about the quality of the music.
  • This week’s Highest Debut belongs to newcomer Tom Odell from Chichester, England. His song recently went top ten on iTunes in the United Kingdom and this week enters my chart at #38, titled “Another Love”. His album, Long Way Down, is out Monday over there, and gets a release here in the United States in September.
  • Another new singer to the chart is John Newman, who comes in at #39 with “Love Me Again”. Last summer, he was featured on the Rudimental song, “Feel The Love”, which went to #1 in the U.K. and is just now being released here. “Again” has already charted in several European countries, including a top ten peak in Hungary.
  • Last but not least, duo The Civil Wars debut at #40 with “The One That Got Away”, a totally different song from the same title that went to #1 on my chart for Katy Perry in 2011. This single comes after the two cancelled their tour and broke up last year, although they’ve seemed to agree on a forthcoming album release, due August 6. It’s self-titled.
