SONG PREMIERE: Beyoncé – “Grown Woman” (+ Lyrics)

Living for now.

Living for now.

Listen to the full version of “Grown Woman”.

After performing at the Super Bowl and reuniting with her old bandmates in Destiny’s Child, our favorite leading lady is back. She just released a promotional mashup, “Bow Down/I Been On”, on her SoundCloud account recently and it garnered some unsolicited airplay. “Grown Woman” is an track from Beyoncé‘s forthcoming studio album, rumored to be titled Mrs. Carter, which coincides with the name of her world tour. It will also be featured in an advertisement for Pepsi, which you can see above by clicking the link. The song was produced by Timbaland, who recently made a huge comeback as the producer of Justin Timberlake‘s The 20/20 Experience. “Woman” was earlier reported to be the first single from the album, but her representatives have now stated the song is not.

“Grown Woman” combines both a pop sound with a tribal beat and lyrics about female empowerment and strength. Even if it’s not the single, it’s sure to be an anthem for the females.

(It’s of note that Child member and longtime friend Kelly Rowland had a solo track entitled “Grown Woman” out in 2010.)

“GROWN WOMAN”

[Verse 1]
I remember being young and talking back
I knew what I needed
I was spending all my nights and days laid back day dreaming (day dreaming, now)
But baby I’ma big girl now, so come do something
Told the world I would paint this town
Now, bitches I run this

[Bridge]
‘Cause I put it (down like that, down like that)
And I’m making (all these racks, all these racks)
And I’m moving (’round like that, ’round like that)
When I do it
I don’t look back (don’t look back)

[Chorus]
I’m a grown woman
I can do whatever I want
I’m a grown woman
Do whatever I want
I can be bad if I want
I can do wrong if I want
I can live fast if I want
I can go slow all night long
I’m a grown woman (Why, of course!)
I can do whatever I want

[Verse 2]
They love the way I walk
‘Cause I walk with a vengeance
And they listen to me when I talk ’cause I ain’t pretending
It took a while, now I understand just where I’m going
I know the world and I know who I am
‘Bout time I show it

[Bridge]
‘Cause I put it (down like that, down like that)
And I’m making (all these racks, all these racks)
And I’m moving (’round like that, ’round like that)
When I do it
I don’t look back (don’t look back)

[Chorus]
I’m a grown woman
I can do whatever I want
I’m a grown woman
Do whatever I want (Why, of course!)
I can be bad if I want
I can say what I want
I can live fast if I want
I can go slow all night long
I’m a grown woman (Why, of course!)
I can do whatever I want (Whatever it is!)

[Middle 8]
I’m a grown woman, so I know how to ride it
I’m a grown woman, and I’m so erotic
I’m a grown woman, now I got you so excited
I’m a grown woman, look at my body
It ain’t no fun if a girl can’t have one
You really wanna know how I got it like that
‘Cause I got a cute face and my booty so fat

Go girl (go girl) ’cause you got that bum, that bum
Go girl (go girl) you can get whatever she wants
Go girl (go girl) ’cause she got that tight, that tight
Them boys (them boys) they can do whatever she likes

[End, with musician in foreign language]
Grown woman
I’m a grown woman
I’m a grown woman, I can do whatever I want (I can do whatever I want)
I’m a grown woman, I can do whatever I want (Bitch, I’m grown)
I’m a grown woman, I can do whatever I want…
